Sharing laughter

I like to make people laugh, and now I might have some idea why beyond "it makes them happy and me happy". Laughter is involuntary. Laughter results from sharing some thought, or observation, or event that triggers an involuntary response. Some call this striking a chord, and now I think I get why. For someone to laugh in response to something you said, you must "strike a chord", a part of them that is deeply ingrained, and if so deeply ingrained that it has an involuntary result then both of us must share some level of deeper understanding.

So partially why I want to make people laugh derives from a desire to see evidence of some deeper, shared understanding.
